On Monday December 11th Cindy Blackstock, colleagues from The First Nations Child & Family Caring Society, and the RSEKN hosted 90 children from local elementary schools at the University of Ottawa for “It’s a Teddy Bear Tea Party and Book launch.” This event, complete with teddy bears and cupcakes for each child (and some adults), marked the launch and the first public reading of “Spirit Bear and Children Make History.” Written by Cindy Blackstock and Eddy Robinson and illustrated by Amanda Strong, this important book tells the story of how children stood up for the rights of First Nations children in Canada.
